1.Broga Hill

The first of our list will surely be the famous Broga Hill. The hiking paths are really well-known among the local and is usually the top choice for groups of beginners. The unique thing is the paths here are often surrounded with waist-height grass. Of course, everyone comes here to get a glimpse of the beautiful sunrise while doing some exercises.

2.Bukit Gasing

Bukit Gasing is suitable for those who hike for the first time. However, please note that it consists of some diverging pathways, so you might need an experienced hiker to lead you or ask around. There is a very primitive suspension bridge which you may find it challenging, but it is definitely worth the time to cross it and take some attractive photos there. The hill  is located just next to Jalan Gasing, at the center of Petaling Jaya where you may find some interesting cafes to get your breakfast after a morning hike.

3.KL Forest Eco Park

KL Forest Eco Park is a pretty well-known greenery spot in KL city center. The hiking paths are easy enough that even tourists from oversea love to visit here. The suspension bridge, canopy walk and scenic view of the surrounding metropolitan area makes it the perfect place for Instagram story / photo. Entrance fee is required.

4.Taman Tugu

Taman Tugu is also one of the beginner-friendly hiking spot and a popular picnic area for family. It is nearby KL City Center, suitable as a short hiking trip. You may visit the iconic Tugu Negara while you are there and take some photos with the statue.

5.Bukit Tabur

Bukit Tabur is less well-known among public but the hiking enthusiasts will definitely recommend you to come here. The hiking trail is not as beginner-friendly and requires certain physical fitness level as well as some hiking experience. However, you will be surprised by the scenic view at the top of the hill. We would recommend you to do some research online before going and it is better to be guided by someone experienced while hiking Bukit Tabur.

6.Bukit Denai 3 Puteri, Kota Damansara

Don’t miss out this hiking spot if you are staying nearby Kota Damansara. In average it is just a 90-minute hiking trip to the hilltop known as Unity Peak. Most of the pathways are relatively simple and you get to see the bustling traffic of NKVE Highway with city view along the way.

7.Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve

Located in Puchong, Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve is one of the few hiking spots with waterfall and pond! The trekking trails are steep yet beginner will find it worthwhile. Remember to bring some extra clothes as you will certainly jump into the pond and frolicking in the water while you are there.

8.Chiling Waterfalls

Chilling Waterfall is situated in Kuala Kubu Bahru, an hour driving distance from KL. A lot of people go there during weekend or holiday for a riverside picnic. To reach the waterfall, one has to walk for about one hour. Remember to bring some snacks and water so that you can enjoy them while resting and playing in the waterfall in the midway of the hike.

9.Bukit Saga

Bukit Saga, as known as Apek Hill, is located in Ampang. It is a relatively challenging hiking trails as there are steep rocks to climb and muddy pathways to trek. However, most of the trails are roped up to provide something for people to hold on to. Since this is part of the forest reserve, you might stumble upon some special plants that you have never seen before. Remember to bring enough water because you might take 2-3 hours to complete the trail.

10.Bukit Kutu

Bukit Kutu is located in Kuala Kubu Bahru, about 60 minute driving distance from KL. There are some ‘surprises’ waiting for you along the trails. There is an old ruins with chimney and well which were once an old mansion at the top of the hill. The pathways are narrow and you will sometime need to crawl and cross the rivers. Once arriving at the peak, there is a rock where you can take some epic selfies. The whole trip will be about 5 hours long, so get yourself prepared.
